I was looking at this site called PurplePatch Surveys the other day. They reckon you can earn a bit of money by doing surveys for companies who want to make their stuff better.
I quite like the idea of making some spare cash this way. But I wanted to check if PurplePatch Surveys is actually proper legit or if its just another website that messes you about and wastes your time.
I thought I would share what they offer with you so you can see what its all about. Then you can decide if you might want to give it a go or not.
Anyway let me tell you what I found out about them.
What is PurplePatch Surveys and how does it work?
PurplePatch Surveys is what it says on the tin – a survey site where you get rewards for filling in surveys. It’s legit, I can say that much, as you actually do get rewards from it. Now that doesn’t mean it’s worth your time.
To work out if it’s worth bothering with, you need to understand how it all works. So I looked at what ways you can earn on the site. You’ve got to know how much time and effort you need to put in before you start making anything from it, right?
So here’s what you can do to earn on PurplePatch Surveys.
Paid Surveys
PurplePatch surveys are the main way I get rewards from them. You can see what surveys are there when you log in to your dashboard. They also send emails or texts when they’ve got surveys for you.
So you have to answer some qualifying questions before each survey. PurplePatch does this cos they need certain types of people – like specific ages or interests or whatever – for their research stuff.
If you get through that part, you can do the actual survey. If not, well that’s it really, you just try another one if there’s any available. You gotta be patient with these things as you won’t qualify for loads of them.
After finishing a survey, you get your points. I’ll go into what you can do with your points a bit later on.
You might get other prizes sometimes instead of points or along with them, like entries for their prize draws.
Another thing about their surveys, even when you don’t qualify, they give you 10 points anyway. Not a lot obviously, but it’s something for your time I suppose. Most survey sites don’t give you anything when you don’t qualify, so that’s a good thing about them.

Prize Draws
You can get into their prize draws by doing surveys. It’s not actually a guaranteed way to earn money, but I wanted to include it anyway because you might win quite a decent amount from it.
When you’re chosen as the winner, you get points, about 5,000 points usually. So yeah, it’s not guaranteed money or anything, but you can basically just think of whatever you win as a nice little bonus on top.
Getting Others to Join
So you can get some extra points by inviting people to PurplePatch. You just need to send them your link, which you can find on your account page. When they click it and sign up, they sort of become what PurplePatch calls your “referral” which is just their way of tracking who brought who.
You can actually send the invite right from the referral page too, where you put their email and PurplePatch sends them something. But the annoying bit is they have to complete two surveys before you get anything. Like, they can’t just sign up, they need to actually do surveys.
After they’ve done their two surveys, you get 100 points. Not brilliant money if I’m honest, but points are points I suppose. Maybe worth trying if you’ve got mates who don’t mind surveys. How PurplePatch Payments Work: Gift Cards vs Cash Options
When you do the PurplePatch stuff you get points, right. Once you’ve built up 500 of them, which is about $5, you can trade them in for one of those GiftPay eGift cards.
You’re probably wondering what these GiftPay cards actually are. They’re gift cards for buying things from all sorts of shops around Australia. Works at quite a lot of places so that’s decent I suppose. If you wanted proper money instead though, you won’t get it here sadly. The only options they give you are getting the gift card or you can give the money away to charity if you want.
Their payment system is fairly straightforward I guess. Not brilliant if you want cash though. I’ve tried GG2U Premium Surveys as well and they do PayPal payments, so maybe check that one out instead.
How Much Money Does PurplePatch Actually Pay?
Money from PurplePatch? It varies based on surveys you finish. You’ve got no say in how many surveys show up, which is rubbish. I didn’t see many when I was using it, so earning consistently isn’t really on the cards.
Those quick 5-minute surveys give you around 200-400 points. More points for the longer ones, as you’d expect. The rate per survey isn’t bad actually – quite competitive. Problem is the overall earning potential is poor because there’s not much work.
Can be a decent second option though. In my view, it works if you’ve got other sites going too. Just don’t think you’ll make money from it regularly. There’s not enough there.
Who Can Take PurplePatch Surveys?
PurplePatch Surveys only works if you live in Australia. So yeah, if you’re not in Australia then you can’t use it, which is a bit rubbish.
Joining is pretty straightforward. You fill out their form when you sign up. After that, they’ll email you something and you have to click the link in it to finish. Once you’ve done all that, you can log in to your account and start earning from surveys and stuff.
The first time you log in, right, they make you do this profile survey. I mean, it’s what all these sites do. You get 200 points when you finish it though, which is quite nice I suppose for something you’d have to do anyway.
No App Needed: How to Use PurplePatch on Mobile
Using PurplePatch on your phone? They haven’t made an app for it yet but their member pages work on mobile browsers. The screen stuff all fits properly when you load it on your phone screen. So you can do the surveys whenever you’re not at your computer, which is really useful.
Getting to surveys quick matters a lot. Each one has this limit of how many people can do it. Once they hit that number the survey just closes and that’s it – you’ve missed your chance to get that money. Mobile access helps with catching them before they fill up.

How to Get Help When You’re Confused?
If you’ve got questions, you can have a look at their FAQ section. That part of PurplePatch sort of explains the basic stuff, you know, things you probably need to figure out.
Still confused? I mean, you can actually reach out to support people. There’s a Contact link somewhere on the site and when you click it, it takes you to this page with a form you fill in.
They do provide support, or well, I guess the absolute minimum really. Not brilliant but okay enough if you need to ask them something. That’s how these sites usually work.

What happens after you get a survey invite?
When you get those survey invites, there’s a little quiz thing you have to do first. It sorts out if you’re what they’re looking for, which is a bit annoying if you ask me. You get some points just for doing these screening questions though – harder ones give you more points, so that’s something at least.
If you fit what they want (most times you don’t), they’ll send links for the proper survey. Once you’ve finished, you can collect your points or sometimes try for prizes instead, but I usually just take the points.
Don’t stress if you can’t do all the surveys they send. I mean, who has time for that? Just check whenever you remember or wait till they notify you again.

Why Those Annoying Profile Questions Actually Help You Earn
Your personal details get you matched with surveys you might qualify for. Loads of companies want feedback from specific groups only, like people with certain phone contracts or whatever. If you haven’t got your current plan listed, you miss out on those surveys, which is a bit rubbish.
Good thing is you can update your profile anytime on their new website now. They also do these random prize things for members who’ve filled everything in. So that’s something I guess.
Keeping everything up to date, it makes a big difference. You get more surveys that actually apply to you and better chances to earn some cash from it all.
Is PurplePatch Surveys worth it?
PurplePatch Surveys doesn’t suck. You can actually make some money answering their surveys and all.
They pay decent amounts when you do qualify for their surveys. One good thing about them is they give you a little something when you get kicked out of surveys. Not many places do that. The surveys you can do them are limited though, so don’t expect to earn loads. It’s not your main money maker, just an extra one.
If you happen to live in Australia and want another site to earn from, this is okay I guess. The downside is no cash rewards, just points or whatever.
